Um…..

Firstly, let me thank our friend Glen for taking these beautiful photos of Obear today at Ned’s wonderful 4th birthday party.  Ollie and I joined a few of our friends and a whole bunch of other kids at a fantastic park to run around like crazy people and consume lots of sugar.  Ollie got a real kick out of it as he is pretty in awe of bigger kids at the moment and loves to mimic their behaviour.  He particularly loved being involved in the treasure hunt, as well as demolishing lots of fruit and just a few cakes and lollies.

As for the title, well Ollie has added ‘um’ to his vocabulary.  He uses it perfectly, when you ask him something, he goes “um??” until he can tell you the answer.  Too too beautiful.  He also has so many other words each day that it amazes us.  You just have to say “can you say Sophie?” (the lovely little girl across the road that Ollie loves) and he repeats it.  He is also starting to connect words in an appropriate manner.  This week he grabbed Nick’s keys off him and declared “my daddy’s keys”.  Very cool indeed.

You might be able to see lots of teeth in the photos.  Teeth are pretty much the biggest thing going on around here (apart from lots of packing in the lead up to the move). O’s teeth are cracking through his poor little gums one by one and he is rewarding them with great care.  After his shower every night he squeals “teeth, teeth” and jumps up and down with excitement until we clean his teeth.  Hopefully this enthusiasm for dental hygiene is a longstanding thing.

While our friend Jessie was having a go on the swings today, we were left to look after her fairy wings.  We figured, why let the girls have all the fun.  Check out how cute he looks.

Obear is sleeping super soundly tonight as we had a lovely late afternoon tear around with all the neighbourhood kids.  The weather was a bit dreary so us mums sheltered in someone’s garage on fold out chairs while the kids went wild.  Ollie demonstrated his extreme side, insisting on riding the bigger kid skateboards and scooters.  He is going to be a real boys boy when he gets older.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

HE’S OFF

Friends of ours have two kids who are a few years older than Obear so we’ve been to a few birthday parties at their place over the years.  Twice a year we get to catch up with their various friends and have seen many of them pregnant, with babies and now with bigger kids.  It is amazing to see them all grow up.  This time last year we rocked out there with our tiny three week old baby who Nick held protectively throughout the party.  This year he was walking around by himself and even managed a small level of involvement in pass the parcel.  By the next party in November he will no doubt be tearing around and in years to come he can really get into the festivities with the bigger kids and hopefully look out for his younger sibling. It was while we were at the party today that I noticed something new in Ollie’s mouth – two top teeth!  Finally the two front teeth are starting to cut through.  I must concede that I was starting to wonder if he was de...
