Thank goodness it is Friday

The weeks really are starting to fly by. I can't believe it has been 13 weeks now that we have had this gorgeous little girl in our world. She continues to be an absolute joy and I am just so damn lucky to be her mummy. This week she achieved two milestones. The first was to roll from her tummy to her back. Arguably not that exciting though as it is significantly caused by gravity but she has worked out how to lean so that her body weight kicks in and does the rest. She did it four times in a row the first time so I'm pretty sure it wasn't a fluke. The second achievement is an extension of the other week when she worked out that her hand went quite nicely into her mouth. Today she figured out how to hold an object (that I put into her hand) and of course that object then went into her mouth. Delicious. Who knows what she will learn next week. It is amazing watching them learn.

Obear is also doing a great job of learning himself. Today he learned how to take his own t-shirt off. Perhaps it may not seem as significant as putting your hand in your mouth but on a day to day basis how many of us put our hands into our mouths? But we all have to take our shirts off at some point!

But seriously, he is doing lots of learning at swimming. He is getting a lot better each lesson and (in my completely biased opinion) is the superstar in his class. He can kick and paddle and even managed to blow bubbles last week with his head under the water. All of these were nothing in comparison to the achievement that was going on the big boy waterslide. With Nick of course but it is still a pretty serious slide that is pretty dark and with lots of twists and turns. It didn't scare Obear though - he wanted to go straight back up, and he did!

O also is doing a great job of drawing. I've been sticking big sheets of paper up on the glass doors and letting him draw all over them. The addition of a whiteboard marker has seen him draw some amazing pictures with fabulous narrative to go along with them. He is drawing faces with features like smiles, eyes and ears as well as legs and arms. I couldn't be happier. I'll take some pics of them and put them up soon.

We had Pa & Nanna Kaye come to visit this weekend gone which is always lots of fun.
Each time they come to visit they bring fabulous clothes for the littlies from baby Gap which just has the cutest stuff. But all the great items they have brought back over the years for Ollie just can't compete with the gorgeous little dresses that Kaye finds for Evie. And they all have my favourite - matching nappy pants - super super cute. My favourite this time is a stunning gunmetal grey satin number with layers of grey tulle. It was so cute that we have already worn it out twice. At the rate this little girl is growing I'll have to bust it out a few more times in the coming weeks.

Speaking of clothes, I continue to print shirts at a crazy lady rate. Poor Nick is living the life of a bachelor each evening after the kids go to bed, with me working downstairs for a couple of hours before I head to bed. But it is all coming together. Ollie doesn't seem to mind though as he finds himself getting new shirts every few days. This week he got a one with toy soldiers doing the YMCA dance as well as a triceratops shirt. He has been busting me for the triceratops shirt for ages and when I gave him the YMCA shirt he said "mummy, make my 'certaops shirt". Tough critic.

Ollie continues to take photos on his camera. We took it to the park this week and it was amazing to see it through his little eyes. Not surprisingly the swings featured quite heavily in his shots - he loves the little swing way too much and he is often to be found sitting on it on his own waiting for me to come over and push him. Poor sad little tucker.

It is Halloween here tomorrow (well Monday but they celebrate it on the Saturday night here) so stay tuned for photos. Ollie is dressing up as a dragon and his girlfriend Madi is coming over too. I can't wait to see how gorgeous they look.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Cos we are living in a material world...

It has been a week of new purchases in the Dower household. As Ollie is nearing the six month mark when he will start eating solids (or mushies as they should really be called), we thought it was time to get ourselves a highchair. You'd be surprised at how many different kinds you can get and after lots of research I worked out exactly which one I wanted. So of course, that was the one that had just been discontinued!! Anyway, we bought a similar one and it got delivered to our house ... in pieces. I couldn't wait for Nick to come home to put it together so I gave it a crack and after managing to find a screwdriver (the most challenging part of the process) I successfully negotiated the instructions until the object before me resembled the one on the box. Ollie and I both held our breath the first time I put him in it, but it held his weight (not an insignificant amount). Ollie seems to like his highchair for reasonable periods of time and I have found it a godsend as it en...
