Giddy up cowboy

Yesterday saw the beginning of the Christmas parties in our world, but unlike the boozy inappropriate Christmas parties of years gone by, this was a nice family friendly break up for our playgroup. It took place at a local farm and saw the kiddos have a wild time riding ponies as well as brushing them and feeding them hay. Basically awesome. Not quite as awesome for the mummies and the babies though as it was a stinking hot day. O especially loved the pony rides. He wasn't the slightest bit scared and held on by himself the whole time. Very proud indeed.

How beautiful is my family? I am one lucky lady. But who is that masked boy?

And I definitely had to include this one of Evie. Every time I look at it she reminds me of someone...

In other Christmas news, we went up to Kmart the other day to put our presents under the wishing tree. We have started a tradition with the kids where each year they will donate a present to a little boy/girl the same age as them. Ollie has really gotten on board with this and he and Nick have been talking about the little boy who will get his present (a big yellow digger) and how he wouldn't get any other presents except the one Ollie got him (and the one every kid gets from Santa - eek tricky). Anyway, all was fine in theory until I bought the present home and he decided he wanted it, declaring "but its not fair!!!". Thankfully Nick was able to refocus him and he was more than happy to put the present under the tree. Evie wasn't so concerned about the baby present we bought. We also got some presents for grandmas and grandpas because apparently they often miss out. So if you are wishing tree-ing this year maybe pick up a couple of extra gifts for the oldies.

And today we started the 12 days of Christmas. Each morning Ollie gets a new little present in the lead up to Christmas day. Our version of an advent calendar (no yucko chocolate made in China) that started 11 years ago when I did the same thing for Nick. Today Ollie got a doctor's kit, which he immediately used to check out Evie. Moosey is currently bandaged and I've had my toes pinched by tweezers a number of times. Future doctor? Not so sure.

Mini Mayhem-wise we had a bumper week last week. I personally invoiced 11 shirts and I know that one of the shops sold 9 shirts (not sure about the other one). We had a shirt featured on the front page of madeit.com.au and also received a mention and a photo of the shirts in two online articles (bristyle.com.au and mustdobrisbane.com.au). The links are on www.facebook.com/minimayhemtshirts. Yay us!!

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

HE’S OFF

Friends of ours have two kids who are a few years older than Obear so we’ve been to a few birthday parties at their place over the years.  Twice a year we get to catch up with their various friends and have seen many of them pregnant, with babies and now with bigger kids.  It is amazing to see them all grow up.  This time last year we rocked out there with our tiny three week old baby who Nick held protectively throughout the party.  This year he was walking around by himself and even managed a small level of involvement in pass the parcel.  By the next party in November he will no doubt be tearing around and in years to come he can really get into the festivities with the bigger kids and hopefully look out for his younger sibling. It was while we were at the party today that I noticed something new in Ollie’s mouth – two top teeth!  Finally the two front teeth are starting to cut through.  I must concede that I was starting to wonder if he was de...
