Happy half birthday

Happy 6 month birthday to our lovely little Eve. To commemorate the occasion we had a little photo shoot this morning.

And here are just a few of the things I adore about her:

- when she is tired she puts her thumb in her mouth and tries to roll onto her side - even when she isn't in her cot.
- she flaps her arms when she is excited and happy. But when she is unhappy she will flap only one of them. Such a small variation. Thankfully her giant happy smile is a useful clue.
- her all time favourite song is the "boom boom boom wayo" song. Her face always lights up when she hears it (and she flaps two of her arms!).
- she thinks her feet are absolutely delicious but she fails more often than she succeeds at putting them into her mouth.
- she makes more noise than any baby I've ever heard. When she is tired, when she is hungry, when she is happy...

- she loves me so very much but she possibly loves Ollie even more.
- whenever Ollie does something that might hurt her and I'm telling him off saying that she doesn't like what he is doing she will have the biggest smile on her face and make me look like a total liar.
- she grabs at my face and nose using her scritchy scratchy nails, but in a most loving kind of way.
- she hits me when she is nursing, but just to make sure that I'm still there.

I love that she is a little girl just for me and when the boys go off to the park or the beach on the weekend there is peace and quiet and a house just filled with girls.

I completely and utterly adore her. I can't believe she has been here for a whole six months. She completes our family, giving me everything I had ever dreamed of hoping for. I love her an insane amount.

And as is the tradition around here, we enjoyed a lovely bottle of bubbles last night to congratulate ourselves for keeping her safe and ourselves (relatively) sane for six whole months.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Cos we are living in a material world...

It has been a week of new purchases in the Dower household. As Ollie is nearing the six month mark when he will start eating solids (or mushies as they should really be called), we thought it was time to get ourselves a highchair. You'd be surprised at how many different kinds you can get and after lots of research I worked out exactly which one I wanted. So of course, that was the one that had just been discontinued!! Anyway, we bought a similar one and it got delivered to our house ... in pieces. I couldn't wait for Nick to come home to put it together so I gave it a crack and after managing to find a screwdriver (the most challenging part of the process) I successfully negotiated the instructions until the object before me resembled the one on the box. Ollie and I both held our breath the first time I put him in it, but it held his weight (not an insignificant amount). Ollie seems to like his highchair for reasonable periods of time and I have found it a godsend as it en...
