Happy Father's Day!

Today was the day that Nick had, in his own words "been waiting his whole life for" - his first ever Father's Day.
In the lead up to the day Nick had told Ollie and I repeatedly that all he wanted was a Dad's bag from Darrell Lea. Well we made sure he got one of those (1.5 kg of chocolate and liquorice) as well as a big print of Ollie's beautiful smiling face to hang on the wall of his new office (when he starts his new job next Monday - congratulations Nick). I also managed to get a book called "I love my dad" the same as the one we already have of "I love my mum" about the zebra-ish character called Ollie. And to top it all off, Ollie wore a special shirt we bought for the occasion that said "My dad is a super hero".
We kept the day itself pretty quiet, just hanging around the house together and going for a walk to the local patisserie for coffee and yummy treats. Throughout the day Nick and Ollie had lots of cuddles and kisses (Ollie is giving these icky open mouth kisses to our ears at the moment - gross but lovely at the same time) and played lots of games together.
We had joked that Ollie was going to cut his first tooth and start crawling today as part of the celebrations but obviously Ollie didn't get that memo. Mind you, we think his first tooth isn't too far off. One of his bottom front teeth appears very close to the surface and he has been awfully whingy for the last few days.
The day was rounded out with Skype chats to Nanna Carmel and Nanna Freddy and after that Ollie bear was well and truly tuckered out. He is currently sleeping in a variety of positions - in the last week he has started swivelling around his cot throughout the night and we never know which end of the cot we will find him in the mornings.

A very happy Father's Day to all of the dads.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Eve is 10: the birthday blog

Double digits?? Say what?!?!?! Did I blink and miss the last decade of you being in my life? The little girl who came along and tipped my world it on it's head.  The little tornado of sweetness and light, chaos and bonkers, all wrapped into one perfect little human. To make sure I always remember you as you become a tween, here are some of the things about you that are special: - ABBA - I'm not sure where this obsession came from but you cannot get enough of them.  You have our spotify account jumping from one ABBA song to the next all day long.  Mamma Mia 1 and 2 (who knew there was a second one??) are your absolute favourite movies and you talk about the characters life you've known them for years. - You are doing an amazing job of music at school.  You are in your second year of fife and have joined the senior fife band where you had to memorise all of the songs so you could march in formation for your performances.  Your fife is usually not too far fr...
