We were lucky enough to be shouted flights down to Sydney for our Christmas present from Nanna Freddy & Poppy Mick so we could see Aunty Alicia and Uncle Guy. As it is September, it took us a little while to get around to taking them!
The whole trip centred around our visit to Taronga Zoo. That day was especially special, not only because of the zoo itself but getting there by boat and seeing the monorail (Ollie can say monorail. It is the cutest). We saw lions and tigers and bears (Oh my) as well as zebras, elephants, snakes, a komodo dragon (super scary), giraffes, you name it. We had the most amazing time but it turned out to be a much longer day than we expected and it totally shattered us all. Nanna Freddy was asleep by 7.30pm and Nick and I were totally jealous!
This is the closest I ever want to see Nick and Ollie with a lion.
B showing off his big new ears.
At the petting zoo Ollie was totally terrified of the sheep after one of the big sheep let out a big baa. After that he sooked it up and didn’t want to touch any of them. Too funny.
Not the real elephants, but still impressive. The real ones were much cuter though. Especially the two baby ones.
These mountain goats have the best view in Sydney.
As well as the zoo, we had a great time catching up with Alicia & Guy a few times, including on Saturday afternoon at Opera Bar which is not surprisingly, at the Opera House and has a stunning view of the Harbour. Ollie was on his best boy behaviour and happily sat on my lap playing with his toys and Uncle Guy while the rest of us took in the view over a few bevvies.
Later in the night and Uncle Guy had headed off to the rugby while the rest of us took a sleeping Ollie out and about in Chinatown. He was a good sport and slept through our very noisy dinner.
On our way to the airport we stopped into Aunty Alicia and Uncle Guy’s very cool home in Kings Cross. Ollie took great delight in chasing their lovely cat CJ around the place and we all enjoyed taking the amazing view of the harbour, city, Opera House and bridge from their rooftop. Ollie and Guy bonded some more over their wearing of hoodies and cool sunnies in the Cross.
Holidays always bring with them new experiences. Some good, some a little shady. Depending on who you talk to, this one could be both. Obear got to have his first “happy meal” at McDonalds at Sydney airport. I okayed it because I thought he was getting a chicken wrap but when I came back I saw him hooking into a cheeseburger. Luckily I managed to keep his fries intake to a minimum and the softdrink to nil. But he loved the toy that came with it.
