As it has been almost twelve months since Ollie and I went to Cloncurry we decided that it was time to make the big trek again. We had been talking about it for ages and every time Ollie saw a plane he would say "Nanna Poppy big plane cows". Finally the time had come.
For Ollie's 11th (and 12th) plane trip he was a superstar as per usual. It was only the two of us but there were no dramas as we had the trusty old ipad to keep us both amused. Possibly the only bit of dodgy behaviour was when Ollie thought it would be fun to drive the packet of butter up the arm of the man on the next who was sleeping. Kind of funny though.
Of course Nanna and Poppy were thrilled to see Ollie and check out how big he had grown and what a chatterbox he is. But Ollie was the most thrilled of all when we got back to the house and he saw what they had in their backyard - his very own DIGGER!!!!!
The best part of the trip for Ollie (apart from time with the grandparents) was probably getting to play with the older boys. He is in total awe of bigger boys and having three of them there so keen to play with him was just the best. Not to mention all the bigger boy toys he got to play with. But no toy could compare to the two calves the boys have in their backyard at the moment. It turns out that the boys had been hanging onto them for just a bit longer so Ollie could have a play with them. He was mildly terrified but also appeared to think it was amazing that there were calves just wondering around. Also in the menagerie were two dogs, one big and one small. The little one, Jack, is just the right size for Ollie so there was lots of patting and tummy rubbing. I'm just worried that he might have come home with a renewed confidence when it come to touching our very own evil Gus. Not recommended.
Another nice activity was a picnic in the park for "Grandparents Day" on Sunday with the three boys and Baby Lucy along with their parents and Lucy's nanna. Ollie and Lucy had spent most of Friday together so they were already flirting and giggling up a storm at each other. I keep joking that Lucy will have to date Ollie when she is older as she is related to all the boys who live in the town. As it is SOOOO hot up there it wasn't a long park playdate but the boys all seemed to have a great time climbing all over the equipment. I blame the heat, it was most definitely nothing to do with the thousands of bottles of wine we had all consumed the night before and the fact that Lucy's mum and dad didn't go home until after 3am and Ollie got up not long after 5am. Definitely nothing to do with that...
