A little bit Christmassy

It is December.  How did that happen?

But in keeping with tradition we put our Christmas tree up yesterday and we had these two little munchkins to help us.  Although they weren't really that helpful and actually seemed hell bent on destroying the tree before we got it finished!

The tree looks beautiful.  But not in the traditional sense.  In fact there are clashing silver and gold baubles, blue baubles and red tinsel.  Gone are the well co-ordinated trees of my Christmas's past.  Now we have a tree that is a thing of beauty simply because some little people helped put it up.  I think it actually needs even more tacky decorations and some homemade Christmas craft ones too.

But the tree must have looked appealing to someone because when we came out this morning there was the most beautiful little red door just next to the tree.

On top of the door were some chocolate santas and a tiny little letter from Santa.  Basically the elves and fairies are going to use this door to keep and eye on Ol & Eve and report back to Santa.  Apparently they like to get into a bit of mischief too.  And, if O & E look after the door and be good little children the elves and fairies may continue to come and visit them after Christmas.

How very lucky are we?  Our very own family of magical creatures to come and visit us (and leave teeny tiny letters!!!!).

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Cos we are living in a material world...

It has been a week of new purchases in the Dower household. As Ollie is nearing the six month mark when he will start eating solids (or mushies as they should really be called), we thought it was time to get ourselves a highchair. You'd be surprised at how many different kinds you can get and after lots of research I worked out exactly which one I wanted. So of course, that was the one that had just been discontinued!! Anyway, we bought a similar one and it got delivered to our house ... in pieces. I couldn't wait for Nick to come home to put it together so I gave it a crack and after managing to find a screwdriver (the most challenging part of the process) I successfully negotiated the instructions until the object before me resembled the one on the box. Ollie and I both held our breath the first time I put him in it, but it held his weight (not an insignificant amount). Ollie seems to like his highchair for reasonable periods of time and I have found it a godsend as it en...
