Spoooooooooky

We truly love Halloween around here.

Each year it gets bigger and better and this year it was spread over an entire weekend.  Friday during the day we got to watch the ferris wheel and all the other rides getting set up at the park at the end of the street.  That night we headed down with a bunch of our closest friends for a movie in the park.  The kids had their eyes glued to the screen but I couldn't stop looking at them and their pals, feeling so thankful that we have such a wonderful little existence here.  It might have been a spooky occasion but I had nothing but love in my heart.

The next night was the real deal.  Proper costumes were busted out - Vampire for Ollie and Pocahontas for Eve.  All of my efforts at making Eve a costume were undone once I added the final detail - black hairspray for both of them.  Ol managed to keep his reasonably together.  But within seconds it seems that Eve had rubbed her little black head all over the place, filthy little black hand prints littered the house and she looked like she had dressed up as a chimney sweep rather than a Disney princess.  Lessons learned. Coloured hairspray will not be featuring again next year.

But we don't cry over spilt hair colour.  Much fun was had.  Rides were ridden.  The parade was watched.  Everyone had fun.  Especially the parents.  Halloween is actually just as fun for us grown ups.

These three boys have been the bestest of friends since they were two.  My heart just swells that they still love each other so much.

Check out our filthy little chimney sweep up in a tree.  Dynamite parenting at it's finest.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Eve is 10: the birthday blog

Double digits?? Say what?!?!?! Did I blink and miss the last decade of you being in my life? The little girl who came along and tipped my world it on it's head.  The little tornado of sweetness and light, chaos and bonkers, all wrapped into one perfect little human. To make sure I always remember you as you become a tween, here are some of the things about you that are special: - ABBA - I'm not sure where this obsession came from but you cannot get enough of them.  You have our spotify account jumping from one ABBA song to the next all day long.  Mamma Mia 1 and 2 (who knew there was a second one??) are your absolute favourite movies and you talk about the characters life you've known them for years. - You are doing an amazing job of music at school.  You are in your second year of fife and have joined the senior fife band where you had to memorise all of the songs so you could march in formation for your performances.  Your fife is usually not too far fr...
