The greatest team of all

To commemorate the Cats first game of the season, Ollie thought it would be a good opportunity to try on some of his football paraphenalia. Honestly, he was nagging me all day to put the stuff on. Despite the jumpsuit being a size 0 (and therefore an ideal size for the last Saturday in September), by rolling up the sleeves a little it was almost a perfect fit.

As you can see from the particularly pensive photo, Ollie was pondering whether Bomber Thompson will be calling him up this season to replace Josh Hunt.

As I type this the Cats are playing the Hawks but as it is past Ollie's bedtime he is not watching. Mind you, he is particularly whingy tonight and Nick and I are taking turns to go in and settle him. Perhaps he can sense that he is missing out?

But it is best that he not watch too much football at this early stage. Gus the cat has learnt over the years to stay away from Nick during games as he is prone to suddent outbursts of abuse and incoherent ramblings at the TV. If Ollie watches the season with his Dad, I think we are at real risk of his first words being "who to?" and "nice work Cats".

In a quiet moment today while Olliebear was having a nap I took the opportunity to go through his clothes and take out some of the clothes he has grown out of and put some of the bigger sizes to the front. It is hard to believe that just a few weeks ago he could fit into his 0000 clothes whereas now he is starting to wear some of his 00 ones. While there does seem to be some discrepancies between brands (Bonds reminds me of the "Country Road size 8") there is no doubt that he is a big unit and is growing out of clothes quicker than we could have imagined. I am putting the clothes away hoping that in the not too distant future I will be pulling them out for another little Dower to wear.

A special thanks to our friend Nadine who gave us some beautiful books today by Anna Walker. They are a series about a little boy (who actually looks kind of like a zebra but to keep it simple it is best to describe him as a boy) and the little boy is called Ollie. One of the books is about how Ollie likes to sing, but the other one which is my favourite is about how Ollie loves his mum. Of course I'm a fan. I will have to try to find some more of them. I'm sure when Ollie is a bit older he will get a real kick out of reading books about a little boy with his name.

Right now I'd get a kick out of him going to sleep for the night!!

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Cos we are living in a material world...

It has been a week of new purchases in the Dower household. As Ollie is nearing the six month mark when he will start eating solids (or mushies as they should really be called), we thought it was time to get ourselves a highchair. You'd be surprised at how many different kinds you can get and after lots of research I worked out exactly which one I wanted. So of course, that was the one that had just been discontinued!! Anyway, we bought a similar one and it got delivered to our house ... in pieces. I couldn't wait for Nick to come home to put it together so I gave it a crack and after managing to find a screwdriver (the most challenging part of the process) I successfully negotiated the instructions until the object before me resembled the one on the box. Ollie and I both held our breath the first time I put him in it, but it held his weight (not an insignificant amount). Ollie seems to like his highchair for reasonable periods of time and I have found it a godsend as it en...
