I get around

It has been a BIG week in the Dower household. Obviously the biggest deal around here was the footy grand final on Saturday. The three of us got decked out in all of our Cats regalia and nervously sat down to watch the game. Ollie got tuckered out from the stress of it all and had a nap for the second and third quarters but was up for the nail biting final quarter. Nick and I were both on the edge of our seats and trying not to sound like we had Tourette's. Fortunately Aunty Hayley helped to distract Ollie from the noise but in the end the sounds were those of victory and he didn't have to witness his parents sobbing!!

Check out the pic of Ollie with us - he is totally eyeing off Nick's beer!

We also shared the week with a visit from Grandpa Peter and a flying visit from Nanna Freddy and Poppy Mick - literally a flying visit as we went to see them for an hour at the airport on their way home from the Grand Final (lucky buggers). The pic of Mick shows Ollie doing his new fave thing - random acts of violence!! He is permanently pulling at our hair, trying to eat our ears and noses and slapping various body parts of ours. Luckily he is so cute he can get away with it.

But the most exciting Ollie stuff going on is his increased mobility. He is still not crawling yet but he can get himself around by rolling and swivelling on his chubby bubby belly. He has even managed to push the buttons on the Foxtel box a few times. Nick took a video of him the other day that shows a drawn out 360 effort with a tongue poking and a raspberry thrown in for good measure. Enjoy.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Eve is 10: the birthday blog

Double digits?? Say what?!?!?! Did I blink and miss the last decade of you being in my life? The little girl who came along and tipped my world it on it's head.  The little tornado of sweetness and light, chaos and bonkers, all wrapped into one perfect little human. To make sure I always remember you as you become a tween, here are some of the things about you that are special: - ABBA - I'm not sure where this obsession came from but you cannot get enough of them.  You have our spotify account jumping from one ABBA song to the next all day long.  Mamma Mia 1 and 2 (who knew there was a second one??) are your absolute favourite movies and you talk about the characters life you've known them for years. - You are doing an amazing job of music at school.  You are in your second year of fife and have joined the senior fife band where you had to memorise all of the songs so you could march in formation for your performances.  Your fife is usually not too far fr...
