WALK THIS WAY

That’s right, he is walking!!!!  On Sunday, Nick and I encouraged the little unit to walk between us and amazingly, it worked.  Even more amazingly we were filming it at the time so captured on film the first time he took five steps (unfortunately I cannot upload it at the moment – sorry.  am trying to rectify).

Since then his little tottering around has exceeded eight steps now.  He gets SO excited with himself and is often found standing up clapping himself just before he launches off on a frolic.

The birthday celebrations around here continue.  We went out on Monday night with a bunch of friends to commemorate my anniversary while Ollie slept soundly at Nanna Carmel’s.  Nick didn’t get too much sleep though as we stumbled in around 2am and Ollie decided to start the day at 5am!!

But Ollie’s birthday still rates a mention with the arrival of a beautiful gift from our friend Cyndee.  While visiting her family home recently, Ollie had a great time playing with an amazing wooden puzzle that had been handmade by her uncle.  So we were especially thrilled when a puzzle made just for him turned up.  It is the kind of toy that he will have for many many years and his use of it will change over time.  For the moment he has a fixation with the green frog (the letter “f”) and insists on carrying it around the lounge, sometimes noisily dragging it along the walls.

Here is Obear caught doing a little bit of yoga.  He thinks it is totally hilarious to look at the world upside down.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Eve is 10: the birthday blog

Double digits?? Say what?!?!?! Did I blink and miss the last decade of you being in my life? The little girl who came along and tipped my world it on it's head.  The little tornado of sweetness and light, chaos and bonkers, all wrapped into one perfect little human. To make sure I always remember you as you become a tween, here are some of the things about you that are special: - ABBA - I'm not sure where this obsession came from but you cannot get enough of them.  You have our spotify account jumping from one ABBA song to the next all day long.  Mamma Mia 1 and 2 (who knew there was a second one??) are your absolute favourite movies and you talk about the characters life you've known them for years. - You are doing an amazing job of music at school.  You are in your second year of fife and have joined the senior fife band where you had to memorise all of the songs so you could march in formation for your performances.  Your fife is usually not too far fr...
