NANOO NANOO

Last week I wrote about Ollie’s newfound use of the word Nanna. While this word continues to feature prominently, and in appropriate situations, this week it has evolved.  Not only is it applied for the Nanna people, but it has cropped up when applied to Ollie’s current fave fruit – bananas.  Oddly though, it has morphed into a reference from Mork & Mindy and he often runs around the house saying “nanoo nanoo”!

Nick and Obear had a boys day at the shops last week and came home with a present for Ollie which was really a present for me – an art set.  I may have thought Ollie was a little young for it but have been proved completely wrong.  He thinks drawing with crayons is AWESOME and we’ve done it at least once a day since then.  He is also enjoying my drawings of things he recognises like Panda, dogs and dinosaurs.  We are both having a cracker of a time scribbling stuff and it has got me completely excited about all the fun crafty stuff we have to look forward to over the years.  Now I just have to keep the crayons on the paper and off the walls.

Another bonus from the art set was the cool little toy box that it came in.  Ollie thinks it is great fun to wander around the house carrying his little tool box.

I think I’ve mentioned our turkey friends before who frequent the tree that grows on our deck.  It is like having our own personal zoo.  This week I managed to capture a picture of them so you can see just how close they live to us.  It is crazy that Ollie has 10-20 words in his vocabulary and one of them is turkey!! GOBBLE GOBBLE.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Cos we are living in a material world...

It has been a week of new purchases in the Dower household. As Ollie is nearing the six month mark when he will start eating solids (or mushies as they should really be called), we thought it was time to get ourselves a highchair. You'd be surprised at how many different kinds you can get and after lots of research I worked out exactly which one I wanted. So of course, that was the one that had just been discontinued!! Anyway, we bought a similar one and it got delivered to our house ... in pieces. I couldn't wait for Nick to come home to put it together so I gave it a crack and after managing to find a screwdriver (the most challenging part of the process) I successfully negotiated the instructions until the object before me resembled the one on the box. Ollie and I both held our breath the first time I put him in it, but it held his weight (not an insignificant amount). Ollie seems to like his highchair for reasonable periods of time and I have found it a godsend as it en...
