Da dum da dum…

Finally, Rachel and Christian’s wedding was upon us.  After months of planning, almost 40 guests heading over to Bali and way too many incidents to mention (try two stolen/lost passports, an exhaust burn on the bride’s leg, slashed little toe – me, coral cuts, many upset tummies, a missed flight, expired passport, do I need to go on?) the time had come.

As we were staying with Rachel’s family in the most beautiful villa in the world (check it out – villamojo.com – it is actually more impressive in the flesh) all of the wedding day festivities took place around us.  Us lovely ladies kicked off the morning with a laid back pedicure upstairs.  Unfortunately Ollie decided to wake up as soon as we started and the boys were out gathering wine and cheese.  Luckily Obear has quite happy to sit on my lap for an hour and watch the ladies do their work. He also didn’t mind getting a bit of a toe shape and one of his toes painted as well!

The rest of the day was a flurry of activity. One of the most popular activities was discussions about the weather.  It had been pouring down for the past 24 hours pretty solidly so everyone was holding their breath with respect to the outdoor ceremony.  As if straight out of a movie, a few moments before the ceremony kicked off, the clouds parted and the most beautiful sunshine filtered through.  It then turned into a sunset worthy of all of Rachel’s dreams and stayed pretty okay for the rest of the night (with the occasional refreshing sprinkle).

One of my favourite moments was when Ollie saw me walking down the aisle and declared “mummy”!

Of course Rachel looked spectacular, but no one would have ever been surprised by that.

And she looked even better when she met up with Christian .  Love!

While us members of the bridal party swanned around on the beach having photos done, Nick won another father of the year award feeding Ollie his dinner and getting him ready for bed.  He went to the bed for another evening in his stroller while the festivities kicked on around him.   Luckily as Nick undertook his role as MC and I gave my bridesmaid speech.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Cos we are living in a material world...

It has been a week of new purchases in the Dower household. As Ollie is nearing the six month mark when he will start eating solids (or mushies as they should really be called), we thought it was time to get ourselves a highchair. You'd be surprised at how many different kinds you can get and after lots of research I worked out exactly which one I wanted. So of course, that was the one that had just been discontinued!! Anyway, we bought a similar one and it got delivered to our house ... in pieces. I couldn't wait for Nick to come home to put it together so I gave it a crack and after managing to find a screwdriver (the most challenging part of the process) I successfully negotiated the instructions until the object before me resembled the one on the box. Ollie and I both held our breath the first time I put him in it, but it held his weight (not an insignificant amount). Ollie seems to like his highchair for reasonable periods of time and I have found it a godsend as it en...
