Happy Easter

It never rains but it pours - unfortunately for us, all of Ollie's grandparents have been residing in far flung places since he has been born, so it is not that often that he gets a chance to catch up with them. Well this past fortnight has been a grandparent bonanza with Nanna Carmel and Grandpa Rob back from Canada, Nanna Kaye & Pa visiting from New York and then a day later, Nanna Freddie from the not so glamourous Cloncurry. So as you can imagine it has been a pretty hectic time.

Not surprisingly Easter has been the big focus around here, and as you can tell from the top photo, Ollie LOVES chocolate. He has received way too much of it and has eaten a lot more than I anticipated. But thankfully it only happens once a year. Another thing we have consumed a fair few of is hot cross buns, although Ollie has given them his own name - window buns. If you've got any leftover have a look at them, they totally look like a window. I think he might be onto something.

Here is Ollie B in his easter bunny get up on his way to visit Nanna Carmel and Grandpa Rob and the rest of the family. It was here that Ollie scored one of his favourite Easter presents - a Buzz Lightyear torch. He is still completely Toy Story obsessed so this went down a treat. It goes nicely with his other new Toy Story additions, a Buzz, Woody and Jessie the cowgirl figurine that Nanna Freddy got him. He does such a great job of playing with them, making them talk and interact with each other. It is lovely to watch and they are the first things he asks for when he wakes up in the morning (except on easter sunday when he asked if the easter bunny had been).

On Easter Sunday (after going out for a delicious breakfast) we had a delightful egg hunt in the backyard with all of the eggs being found by Ollie B. At least I hope he found them all. I wonder if next time we are down there he will be ripping through my herb garden in the hope of finding another egg of two.

My boys down at the beach.

Obear has been looking at lots of stuff lately through his "binoculars", made up of his two hands. He had Pa and Nanna Kaye in stitches when they were out for a walk and wanted to find something, with Ollie offering to look for it with his "binoculars". But I think it was even funnier when Nanna Freddy offered to look for something else using her "binoculars", only to have Ollie point out that they weren't binoculars, they were just her hands!! And to confuse matters further, Nick has been letting Ollie play with some real binoculars as well. I presume it was Nick's influence that is responsible for Ollie looking through them and saying "nice bottom mummy" (also nanna, daddy, gus etc).

Here is B with his Pa having a chino - I think they look like a couple of old men just chatting away about the world.

And here is B making cupcakes with Nanna Freddy. Just in case we hadn't had enough sugar on Easter Sunday. It seemed like a good idea at the time! And this time there were no nasty incidents with the eggs going everywhere.

New trick of the week? Nick has been teaching Ollie "high five", "down low too slow". But Uncle Simon took it one step further and showed him how to make a "squid squid squid" kind of octopus motion when someone goes to high five you. Sounds pretty silly and it is - Ollie gets into all kind of hysterics when he does it to someone.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro

Eve is 11: the birthday blog

To my beautiful eleven year old daughter. Another year has flown by and you are another year older in the blink of an eye. Let me share some of the things I will always remember about you at this age. - You got a phone. Probably one of the biggest changes this year. Like all young people, you see it as an extension of your hand and you need to be reminded to get off it quite a lot. - You fronted up for another season of netball, despite your protestations. It is so lovely to see you out on the court supporting your team mates. - You are seriously addicted to Roblox. Like seriously! You could happily spend hours playing with your friends on there, or even side by side if you’re hanging out together. - You humour is wicked and sometimes savage. Your timing is ridiculously on point sometimes. - You’re not to old or too cool to play with your dolls. Sometimes they still get dusted off and dressed up. There have even been a few haircuts for some of them. - You love listening to audio stor
