Cloncurry visit

So you will have already seen that our Christmas this year was spent in Cloncurry.  For anyone not familiar with this delight of a town, it is about an hour east of Mt Isa in North West Queensland.  It is mainly about beef and mining with not a whole lot else to do.

But that is precisely why it was such a great place to spend a week over Christmas.  After such a busy pre-Christmas lead up it was heavenly just to be able to check out and do a whole lot of not much.

Needless to say the kids had a ball.  They had their three older "cousins" Jess, Nick and Ben on the same street (and usually in the same house!).  They had potty calves to feed and pat.  They had a big dog and a little dog to pat.  They had a big pool to swim in and a wading pool to splash in.  Kid heaven.

Many late nights were had by Ol.  Many movies watched and many snacks shared with the three boys who knew where all the good lollies and chips were kept.

This is the moment straight after when Evie touched a calf for the first time.  She thought it was pretty special.

Gorgeous bubble loving girl.

Um, who replaced my little boy with this big boy?  Doesn't he look about eight??

But thankfully when I took a photo ten minutes later he had returned back to his little boy self.

Water restrictions don't exist when you have bore water.  So these guys had the loveliest time running through the sprinkler.

We also had a little afternoon photoshoot with the boys.  This is one of my favourites from the day.  How gorgeous are they all?

I think Ol might have a future working on the land.  He certainly looks pretty at ease manning the gate in this pic.  I love that my kids will have the chance to get their hands dirty and spend a bit of time out west.  Fingers crossed that they will agree!

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Eve is 10: the birthday blog

Double digits?? Say what?!?!?! Did I blink and miss the last decade of you being in my life? The little girl who came along and tipped my world it on it's head.  The little tornado of sweetness and light, chaos and bonkers, all wrapped into one perfect little human. To make sure I always remember you as you become a tween, here are some of the things about you that are special: - ABBA - I'm not sure where this obsession came from but you cannot get enough of them.  You have our spotify account jumping from one ABBA song to the next all day long.  Mamma Mia 1 and 2 (who knew there was a second one??) are your absolute favourite movies and you talk about the characters life you've known them for years. - You are doing an amazing job of music at school.  You are in your second year of fife and have joined the senior fife band where you had to memorise all of the songs so you could march in formation for your performances.  Your fife is usually not too far fr...
