Mother's Day 2013

Well I think it is fair to say that it has been a while since the last blog.  There has just been SOOOO much going on that I haven't known where to start.

The last time you heard from us we were in Bali, so some more photos from there would be a good start.  But it was mother's day here last week so I just had to share with you my lovely day first.

In theory I was allowed to sleep in but in reality in meant that I could lay in the comfort of my bed while I listened to the kids trying (but failing) to be quiet.  Just before 8am (that is a sleep in around here) my two lovely little darlings came in covered in little heart stickers.

I received some lovely presents including Lego!!!! Most mums would probably find that a bonkers present but for me it is just perfect.  Especially because it is something that Ol and I can share together.  Well sort of.  I didn't want to share all of it with him.  Here is a pic of me not sharing it...

I stayed in my PJ's until the kid's lunchtime putting my new construction together.  And here is the finished product!

In other non-holiday related news, these two continue to be the loveliest and equally most frustrating little people I've ever met.  Ol is going through a real stage at the moment.  He is too smart sometimes and is constantly telling us how he feels left out because we are giving Eve all the attention.  Eve on the other hand is starting to display signs of nearly being a two year old who needs to test all the boundaries and smiles sweetly at you while she does exactly what you just told her not to.  Trying times.

Eve also was lucky enough to graduate to the next level in her swimming classes.  I say lucky because I was absolutely floored that she was picked to go up when the other girl in her class could pass for a mermaid or a future olympian.  But up she went and now she has to do all these scarier things in her new lesson.  I think I'd rather be back in the baby lesson!

Giant boy Ollie looks more and more like a real boy everyday.  He seems to have shot up in height quite a bit lately.  Perhaps this is helping him to reach the pedals on his big boy bike, although I think it will still be quite a while before the training wheels come off.

And a couple more random shots from around the house this week.  Both of Eve because Ol isn't as keen to be photographed at the moment.  Here is Eve with one of her dollies.  Despite my love of all things boy toy, Eve can sniff out a dolly at ten paces.  She feeds them and rocks them in their cot.  She is also starting to love Disney Princesses like Snow White and she has discovered how awesome fairies are.  I think it is pretty safe to presume this one might be a bit of a girly girl.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Cos we are living in a material world...

It has been a week of new purchases in the Dower household. As Ollie is nearing the six month mark when he will start eating solids (or mushies as they should really be called), we thought it was time to get ourselves a highchair. You'd be surprised at how many different kinds you can get and after lots of research I worked out exactly which one I wanted. So of course, that was the one that had just been discontinued!! Anyway, we bought a similar one and it got delivered to our house ... in pieces. I couldn't wait for Nick to come home to put it together so I gave it a crack and after managing to find a screwdriver (the most challenging part of the process) I successfully negotiated the instructions until the object before me resembled the one on the box. Ollie and I both held our breath the first time I put him in it, but it held his weight (not an insignificant amount). Ollie seems to like his highchair for reasonable periods of time and I have found it a godsend as it en...
