I HAD A FIGHT WITH THE GROUND…

Before I post any photos this week I need to preface this blog with details of an “incident” that Ollie had at daycare with the ground.  Basically he had an argument with a piece of Astroturf and well, the Astroturf won.  It was just a bit of a red mark around his nose and eye but as it heals (and my gosh, do babies heal incredibly quickly) it gets much uglier.  Everywhere I’ve been this week we get lots of comments from little old ladies.  Anyway, moving on…

This week saw the introduction of bubbles to our bathtub.  I don’t think Ollie was that taken with them at first but once I showed him how to make bubble beards (just like we used to do when we were kids – I’ve got photographic proof) he was a convert.  Even better was when I added my own bubble beard to the mix and we had smooshy bubble kisses.  This is his absolute favourite bath game this week.

The kissing part is extra lovely too because this week saw Ollie figure out how to actually shut his mouth and give nice little kisses (no more gaping open mouth).  This is not just limited to Nick and I but has also been demonstrated on Panda, Monkey and Zac (from his book).

In all things shoes (this little man still can’t get enough of them), we let him try on a slightly too big pair we have put away.  He just thought it was the best fun he’d had all day.

They were even put to use as a pretend telephone a la Maxwell Smart.  Not sure if he was trying to call Control or just placing a call to Nanna.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Cos we are living in a material world...

It has been a week of new purchases in the Dower household. As Ollie is nearing the six month mark when he will start eating solids (or mushies as they should really be called), we thought it was time to get ourselves a highchair. You'd be surprised at how many different kinds you can get and after lots of research I worked out exactly which one I wanted. So of course, that was the one that had just been discontinued!! Anyway, we bought a similar one and it got delivered to our house ... in pieces. I couldn't wait for Nick to come home to put it together so I gave it a crack and after managing to find a screwdriver (the most challenging part of the process) I successfully negotiated the instructions until the object before me resembled the one on the box. Ollie and I both held our breath the first time I put him in it, but it held his weight (not an insignificant amount). Ollie seems to like his highchair for reasonable periods of time and I have found it a godsend as it en...
