Honestly, there are some times I just find myself completely immersed in watching Obear playing around. This afternoon I sat back and watched him feeding his milk to all of his toys before going and getting his “That’s not my … bear” book (we are now up to 19 of these books – insane) and opening it up to the panda page and showing it to his toy Panda. It is just so fascinating to see him interacting with toys and playing make believe already. Such fun to watch.
This week Ollie has mastered the word “Nanna”. The timing couldn’t be better given it was the last time Ollie saw his Nanna Carmel before she headed off to Montreal for six months. A very sad goodbye for both of them. It was also the arrival of Nanna Freddy who came to stay for the long weekend and get her fill of Ollie cuddles for a while. The bad part now is that Ollie is walking around the house looking for both of his Nannas calling out “Nanna” but they are no where to be found.
The long weekend saw us getting up nice and early to attend the local dawn service and pay our respects. When I rolled over at 4.06 am I contemplated going back to sleep but I spared a thought for those diggers at Gallipoli and figured they didn’t get a chance to sleep in either. This is Ollie’s second dawn service (see last year’s entry) but this year it wasn’t as smooth sailing as it was with a sleeping little baby. I thought I’d just wake him before we headed out the door but he woke up to the sounds of us getting ready. My best laid plans of him sleeping in the pram during the service were just wishful thinking and instead Nick, Nanna Freddy and I took turns taking him for little walks to stop him from squealing throughout the proceedings. Despite this I’m glad we went along and we will ensure we make the effort again next year.
Ollie’s vocabulary is growing at a ridiculously fast rate of knots lately. One of his favourite words is “no” and he is able to sing “row row row” (as in row your boat) but it sounds more like “wo wo wo”. He can repeat “humpty dumpty” and “turtle” but he really loves to say “me me me” which means “I want”. He seems to want everything at the moment and isn’t happy when he doesn’t get it. He is really testing the boundaries but we are sticking to our guns and he is starting to figure out he can’t necessarily get everything he wants all of the time.
Check out the cute boy in his gorgeous outfit. We went to daycare the other day for his professional kindy pics. He wasn’t impressed about turning up there on his day off but thoroughly enjoyed having me there to play with him and show all the cool toys to. Stay tuned for the results of the professional pics.
