Fish have been featuring fairly heavily in our life lately, what with our trip to Bali (where every restaurant, hotel or gutter has goldfish the size of your head swimming away), Ollie learning the noise fish make (like a mwah mwah sound – tres cute) and finally, with me making a delicious green curry out of them the other night!!
So we thought it was a good time to finally get Ollie his birthday present from us – FISH!!! The original plan was to get one Goober the Goldfish and few backup dancer fish but instead we came away with world’s most impressive little tank and four fish. They are (at this stage) called – Goober, Chester (or Goldie) and the two twins. Ollie is obsessed with them but not quite as much as I am. I have fed them more times than I am meant to today as I’m worried that the naughty twin fish is eating all the food while the others get nothing. Watch this space, next week I might be reporting that they have all been flushed due to overeating!
The new family members settled into their tank tonight. Do fish sleep? Well they look pretty relaxed anyway.
Lots of photos again this blog.
Obear has been doing this adorable thing lately where he puts his shoulder right up to his ears in a kind of “aren’t I just the cutest thing you’ve ever seen” kind of move. He does it on demand now, you just have to say “shoulders” and there he goes. Too too cute.
Here are my boys this afternoon watching “In the night garden”. Another one of O’s favourite shows. He doesn’t watch a ridiculous amount of TV but has definitely decided on a few faves. The good thing about this show is we have a bunch of books about it which we read way more than we watch it on TV, but it is still very well received when it is on the big screen. Note Obear’s cool goggles which he still thinks look pretty impressive.
One of the downsides to watching kid’s TV is all the merchandised products that are out there. I really hate the idea of Ollie walking around wearing Thomas the Tank Engine and Wiggles clothing but it is crazy the kick that he gets out of seeing stuff he knows from TV on things in his day to day life. Just lately he has become mildly infatuated with Elmo from Sesame Street (I took a bunch of Sesame Street podcasts on my ipod to Bali for those tricky moments stuck in airports, vans etc). According to Ollie, Elmo is “MOMO”. He sees him everywhere – who knew one little red muppet could get around so much. Just yesterday we saw him at Coles. Of course he joined us on our shop – Ollie thrusting him toward everyone he saw saying “MOMO”. Given it kept him relatively quiet and well behaved, I think it was $4.99 well spent. Here he is tonight wearing his MOMO pyjamas (thanks to Aunty Zoe) and cuddling MOMO. He really enjoyed showing toy Elmo that he was on his shirt. Way gorgeous.
And finally, welcome to the world to Lucy Daniels, daughter of friends of ours from Cloncurry. I was lucky enough to go and visit baby Lucy and her very proud parents yesterday before they start the long drive home tomorrow. She is absolutely gorgeous. You know how babies normally look like little old men who have been in the spa bath for about six months too long? Well Lucy doesn’t suffer from this affliction at all. She is super gorgeous and will be extremely loved as she is only the third girl in a family that has a lot of little boys. I know Ollie’s Nanna Freddy will be busting out the sewing machines with some pink material and lots of frills any minute now. Takes the pressure off me!!
