We could hardly have forgotten that it was father's day around here, what with Nick's daily reminders to Ollie (and I suspect, I) that it was coming up. Luckily it was sufficiently marked with the prerequisite Darrell Lea Dad's Bag and a lovely card from Ollie (he chose it - it has turtles on it - say no more). We also treated Nick to a new coffee machine to keep Nick happy with espresso and Ollie even happier with babycinos (I'll just stick to tea). We also had a lovely, albeit rainy day in our lovely new home, listening to the sounds of the nearby jazz festival wafting up.
I've made up for the lack of photos on the blogs lately with a few fun little photo sessions around the house this week. It wasn't hard to coax some cheeky smiles out of Ollie. He is quite the master of cheekyness these days. And look at those big eyes!
(Technical problem - I wrote this when the top photo was next in the blog - we've swapped over to a mac this week which I'm loving but I'm used to blogging on Windows Live Writer and funnily enough that doesn't work for Mac - apologies for the clunkiness of the blog at the mo. If anyone an recommend a good mac blogging program I'm be very interested). I think the next photo falls (into the category of "what a real little boy he is becoming". As the weather is heating up we have started to dress Ollie in shorts again and it has made me realise that the last time he was wearing shorts he was this pudgy little baby who had not long been walking. Now in his shorts is this long, lean and sure footed boy who is just tearing around everywhere - preferably pushing a toy car or bus around.
And when he was dressed in that cute little outfit we were heading to a friend's place to have lunch with our friends from Melbourne Aman & Alice. It was a wonderful affair with about 12 of us and five littlies running around. The amazing host is a superb thai cook and the table was literally groaning with so many different dishes, all more delicious than the one before. We all had a great time, especially Ollie, as he was the only little boy and we just know how much he loves the ladies.
When we got home, despite our full bellies, we tucked into one of the many ice-creams that are now in our freezer. I know this makes Nick so happy as at our old place the home ice-cream man used to drive his van tauntingly close to our street but never actually came down. It became a long-standing joke about how he was just trying to mess with Nick. But as just another indicator of how happy we are here, the home ice-cream man has been down our street at least twice this week. But not only does Nick enjoy these treats, but Obear has realised how tasty they are too. Unfortunately he makes a bit of a mess but nothing a few bottles of stain remover can't get out!
