We were lucky enough to have a little mini-break over the weekend up at beautiful Kings Beach. Our good friends Sam & Alan (along with Audrey & baby Henry) were heading up there to catch up with some other friends who are visiting from Canada with their two little boys. We thought it was too good a plan not to get on board so we enjoyed a nice long weekend up there.
Ollie actually started off the weekend declaring that he did not know Will and James but he warmed to them instantly and before long they were all tearing around the park while we tried to figure out where to go for dinner. Turns out the Surf Club wasn't the right option - apparently turning up with seven adults and five children on a Friday dinnertime isn't the done thing when it comes to getting a table. But we found a much better venue set up with a kids table and lots of activities as well as pretty kid friendly food. Unfortunately Ollie didn't get to sample much before he cracked it from being so tired and ended up having to sleep the rest of the dinner away in his pram. Lucky for us he doesn't mind being trotted around as he sleeps. Makes for a pretty cruisy evening for Nick & I!
The next morning Ollie kept asking where Will & James were (and of course Audrey, but he asks where she is most mornings!). Fortunately we caught up with them at a great breakfast place on the beach with a great area for the kids to tear around while we demolished lots of coffees and decadent breakfasts.
The only thing we could do to contain the super high level of excitement was to plonk all five kids into a pre-dug giant hole on the beach with some sandcastle equipment and do our best to encourage them to stay put. Well actually I didn't do too much encouraging, I just sat on the edge of the crater exhausted but Nick did a fantastic job of chasing them around, bringing them buckets of sea water and playing ring-a-rosie. He is definitely on the shortlist for 2011 father of the year in my books.
This was one of the few times that the kids actually stayed still long enough for a photo. I seem to recall that they (especially Ollie) thought it was hilarious to say 'gouda' instead of cheese. See it is funny even without getting the joke.
On Saturday night, Nick and Ollie and I went and had an early dinner, with us finishing our entire dining experience before any other diners had actually come to the restaurant! While dining Ollie and Nick thought it would be a great idea for Ollie to wear Nick's new glasses. Of course I took a photo and as a result we coined a new phrase - "blammo" as in 'blog ammo'. So here it is, Ollie in the first official 'blammo' photo.

Only three more sleeps until we get to go for our big scan on the new baby. Of course the most exciting part (apart from watching the little critter jumping around) is that we finally find out whether we are having a little boy or a girl. I am convinced that it is another boy but Nick is equally as convinced that it is a girl. Ollie oscillates between wanting a sister or a brother but either way he is very excited and sings songs and 'reads' books to the baby.
