How cute is this photo? Sweet little baby lettuce. That has become Evie's new nickname thanks to none other than her big brother. It seems that replacing words with funny or naughty words is a pretty big hit around here at the moment. Ollie gets a real kick out of singing to Evie "baa baa black sheep have you any poo". He cracks us all up.
He has also been impressing us with his botanical knowledge. Nanna Carmel pointed out the jacaranda trees to him the other week and now he takes great pride in pointing them out to us all as we drive along. Turns out there are heaps around here and some car trips see him basically just repeating "jacaranda jacaranda jacaranda". I taught him poinciana the other day so that is starting to creep in too. Clever little duck.
His other favourite top of conversation this week is his favourite colours. He keeps telling me "blue and green are my favourite colours". But this means that apparently pink and red are girl colours. I keep pointing out that blue is my favourite colour but am told every time that I can't like blue because it is a boy colour. I even encountered this when I bought him a new red hat the other day. He totally stacked it on and refused to wear it. I went back to the store today to exchange it for a blue hat. Not surprisingly he loved it. Sigh.
The market that I had been working toward finally rolled around last weekend. Thankfully I had Nanna Freddy down here to come along with me and look after baby lettuce/Evie. I hardly saw either of them for most of the day as I was quite flat out selling shirts and talking to people. The response was really good and I'm feeling very positive about it all. We've even booked in for the next market which is in March.
But after a busy day at the markets we had to back up to Aunty Emma's 21st party that night. Ollie missed out on coming with us but had a fabulous time watching movies on a special bed made up in the lounge room with Nanna Freddy. The party itself was wonderful. Thankfully all the hard work had been done by Carmel, Hayley and Simon in the days leading up to the party so we were able to just swan in and plonk a sleeping Evie down in her cot right next to her cousin Alex. Alex was a little more keen on joining the party a few times but his wake ups didn't concern Evie who just slept straight through his crying. She wasn't even bothered by the trip home and on the return to her cot just went straight back to sleep where she stayed until her usual wake up time. Superstar.
Other Evie tricks of late include sticking her tongue out. Apparently this can be a sign of teething but with Ollie's first teeth not showing themselves until around 10 months I wasn't convinced. But sticking my fingers into her mouth revealed that she does has two little teeth that seem to be on the rise. Watch this space for more developments.
And her other trick? Rolling! Today she managed to roll from her back onto her side and then even pushed herself right onto her tummy. She did it a few times but once I got the video camera out she promptly forgot how to do it. Perhaps tomorrow she might dazzle us again.
