The Budge

I'd been planning to blog early in the week but it just didn't happen due to needy children (not just mine) and lots of screen printing to be done.

And it isn't like I didn't have some good material - Ollie going on the super big boy slide at the markets, a delightful bout of gastro and my favourite, Ollie's decision to call us Mum, Dad & Eve (he is only three, I want to be mummy for a bit longer!).

But I didn't get around to it and now we are away. We are lucky enough to be having a long weekend at Nanna Carmel & Grandpa Rob's beautiful new beach house at the coast, that nick has named "the Budge". It is such a lovely spot and we are extremely thankful to be able to use it as now we are down to one wage, this will be the only holidays we can afford!!

We came down last night after work, putting the kids to sleep in the car. Evie complied fairly quickly but Ollie appeared to be desperately trying to stay awake the whole way down. He eventually succumbed to sleep after about 40 mins. Pretty good effort but it was short lived. Having not had dinner, nick and I decided easy/evil McDonald's drive thru would be the answer. As the lady asked what we would like to order Ollie woke straight up and said "dad, you have to get me a toy!". And if course evie woke up too. Sigh.

Thankfully they both went back to sleep until around 4.30am when Ol (who was in bed with us) decided to start talking, slapping, kicking etc. good times.

But at least we don't miss out on the gorgeous day outside! We've been for a lovely walk (or swim for Ollie - totally unplanned) and a play on two different playgrounds. There is definitely a nap on the horizon for everyone, probably followed by a kayak. Definitely a tough life. Enjoy your Friday everyone.

Food, friends and footy.

This week Ollie and I had a special visitor all the way from Cloncurry - our friend Jesse. Jesse came to play at Camp Ollie for a few hours while his mum had some very well deserved shopping time. Ollie and Jesse played lots of fun games like cups and Jesse was very helpful to me during the afternoon. Another exciting event this week was Nick and my third wedding anniversary. To celebrate we went to the lovely E'cco restaurant on Saturday night, thanks to Aunty Em who stayed over at our place to look after Ollie. Thankfully Ollie was on his best behaviour, as opposed to some of the other nights recently that have seen me popping into his room a number of times in the early hours of the morning. Ollie got to see his Aunty Em again the next day when we went over to the McNaughton/Dower home to celebrate Aunty Hayley's birthday and to catch up with Uncle Luke. Hayley cooked the wonderful family birthday tradition of Flat Meat (hard to describe but kind of like a thinner sc...

Movieworld!

I told you last week that we had been busy having lots of fun around here and another of our fun activities (this time while Nanna Freddy was here) was a trip to Movieworld. But as I'm currently heat pressing fifty odd t-shirts for this weekend's big market, I am only able to make it to the computer in 40 second stints.  It isn't that I'm worried about scorching the shirts, but the heat press has this dreadful tinky asian sounding song as the alarm on the timer and it really grates on my soul!  And as I'm sure you can agree that there isn't a whole lot I can write in the time it takes me to run between the computer and the press (this paragraph has taken me five t-shirts!), this blog is going to be mainly pictures. Ol loved the characters. But not as much as the rides.  He went on about 16.  Seriously. He wasn't a fan of the car driving ones as he just couldn't make them work properly.  His dodgem effort was basically just driving aro...

Eve is 10: the birthday blog

Double digits?? Say what?!?!?! Did I blink and miss the last decade of you being in my life? The little girl who came along and tipped my world it on it's head.  The little tornado of sweetness and light, chaos and bonkers, all wrapped into one perfect little human. To make sure I always remember you as you become a tween, here are some of the things about you that are special: - ABBA - I'm not sure where this obsession came from but you cannot get enough of them.  You have our spotify account jumping from one ABBA song to the next all day long.  Mamma Mia 1 and 2 (who knew there was a second one??) are your absolute favourite movies and you talk about the characters life you've known them for years. - You are doing an amazing job of music at school.  You are in your second year of fife and have joined the senior fife band where you had to memorise all of the songs so you could march in formation for your performances.  Your fife is usually not too far fr...
